The Schoolhouse
Built in 1893, the Schoolhouse represents one of the few remaining buildings of the original 200 structures that once stood at the original ranch. The building is constantly undergoing restoration.
The Hirsch House
Named after famed horse trainer Max Hirsch, who at the age of twelve ran away from home to become a jockey. Several years later, he was let go for being too large, and at the age of twenty became a trainer. Over the next seven decades Hirsch became one of the greatest trainers in sport. The Hirsch House is an ode to those who were raised and worked at Morris Ranch and their impact that was felt around the world.
The Land
Sustainability and conservation are topics that first entered discussions a century ago. Originally focused on wildlife and soils from over farming and over grazing, today, we face new threats to the future viability of our ecosystems and watersheds. We explore how sustainable agriculture and land use come in various shapes and sizes, and how we aim to conserve the lands of Morris Ranch for future generations in spite of the growing challenges of the 21st-century.
